HDR with a Panasonic Lumix TZ7 / ZS3?

Postby c » Sat Aug 15, 2009 11:50 am

Hello, I am the proud owner of the Canon Powershot 710 IS and decided to order the Panasonic Lumix TZ7 / ZS3 after reading some reviews on the net. I decided to get the TZ//ZS3 as a small backup camera and will eventually get a dslr too later this year. This awesome site and its thorough reviews helped me a lot, thanks for that!

Now I was wondering if it was possible to shoot HDR photos with the compact camera (I have a tripod). So far I was using auto bracketing with a custom firmware on my Powershot 710 IS and Qtpfsgui to create the HDR.

Does the Lumix have auto bracketing (it's still in the mail)?
Are there any tricks to create HDRs, when there is no manual control, like first using aperture priority and then a different setting?

If this is not possible I don't mind so much, but it would be fun to shoot some HDRs again. Thanks!

You can do basic HDR with any camera by using exposure compensation to take frames at, say, _2 EV, 0 EV and +2 EV.

We have a guide to HDR here:

and a guide to compensation here:
