Olympus M.ZUIKO 75mm f/1.8 ED Review

Postby Bob Andersson » Thu Jul 04, 2013 8:37 am

Hi folks,

I've only just spotted this review of the Olympus M.ZUIKO 75mm f/1.8 ED over at PhotoZone.

I was excited when the lens was announced and the performance appears to be nothing short of stellar. The only downside for me personally is that I can't think of a need which would justify my bagging myself a copy. :(

I've been eyeing that lens for some time. I have the 45mm 1.8 and use it for only around 5% of my shots. Short/medium telephoto isn't really my thing, so I doubt I could justify the cost for just the odd shot.

I love mine! The only downside for me the size -- it's larger than my E-PL5 -- so I try to get away with the 45mm (which is downright tiny by comparison) as much as possible.

I've been using it solidly for the last 6 weeks, so I'll be preparing a review soon!

Hi folks,

Did anyone notice when the black version of the 75mm f/1.8 ED was released? It's at quite a price premium compared to the silver version and I'm wondering why. :?

The major U.S. retailers -- B&H, Adorama, Amazon -- have the black version listed at the same price as the silver.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the heads up. Amazon UK seems to have a major glitch as the black one is shown as £905.34 while the silver one goes for £729.00. When I posted the question yesterday a number of other UK retailers were advertising the black one at slightly higher prices but that seems to have equalised out now. I think I'll drop Amazon UK a line - yeah, I'm a glass half full man...
