Anyone else had this happen?



The zoom action got stiffer, and then the weatherseal worked it's way out, and snapped. It's been with my local shop for 10 days and I'm still waiting for a repair cost quote.

I think I must be fated as I also had my E-3 screen fail in that the front and back halves of the screen casing separated.

Finally got the quote - £197 which is about 20% of the cost of a new one!

7 weeks later, and repairers still waiting on part from Olympus.

Now nearly 10 weeks and still waiting for parts.

I would except a new one would cost nearly £1000 (approx $1600 USD). If I can't get it fixed, I'd probably be so angry that I'll sell all my Olympus stuff and switch to another brand.

I finally got the lens back, roughly four months later. The moral of the story would seem to be to send repairs directly to Olympus in future.
