HDR is very subtle as it can look overprocessed depending on personal taste.
I like it but there is so much contrast from blue and red that it steals the scene. I'm not sure where to look at.

I wouldn't call this HDR subtle in any way. I don't really like the effect though, personally.
I take pictures so quickly, my highschool was "Continuous High".

That's exactly what I meant. While many dislike the effect, some like it. It's all about personal taste, and that is why it is subtle.

I think you need to up your smoothing a little - I see a fair bit of noise in the red air intake... flaps... or whatever they're called.
