Nice, very pro looking shots. Goes to show what I really learned last thursday. I'm attending a photo-class and last thursday we got to play around with some studio equipment. I knew intellectually that the onboard flash was inferiour to studio flashes and external ones in general. But last thursday I got to see and feel it with my own eyes. The difference is just enormous. Can't wait to get my hands on a speedlite of some sort.

I just spend quite same time expecting the first picture to "load" without realizing that it was actually a border. (Yes I do have a pathetic 13" screen). Nice pictures.

That setup picture is great!

Gives a good idea of how to build a "mini studio"

Canon EOS 500D + Canon EOS 5D Mark III + Canon EOS 33v
Canon EF 28-80mm 3.5-5.6 USM + EF 24-105mm 4L IS USM + EF 100-400mm 4.5-5.6L IS USM + EF 50mm 1.8 II + EF 100mm 2.8L Macro IS USM + Sigma 12-24mm 4.5-5.6 EX DG HSM + Canon Speedlite 580 EX II + Nissin Speedlite Di 466

Lovely composition on the first playing card shot. It appears you use your on camera flash in combination with the speedlite? You have a double shadow (one specular, one diffused) this is almost always a no-no. Other than that everything looks fine.
