Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR

This lens replaced the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II kit lens I got with my Nikon D40. Together with the 55-200 VR Nikkor it gives me a stabilized 18 to 200 range. It manages to improve a little bit upon the previous kit lens in almost all aspects, even without the ED glass...

Two pictures taken with the Nikon D40:

Let me ask you this, did u replace the 18-55VR for the 18-55 that u previously got with the camera?? I would like to se some crops if that was possible of like sharp corners, and whot not!

I mean i have tried the VR 55-200 and i noticed the VR imediatly!

seems to be quite the good lens...

i really like the shots of the snowdrop, i got few of those as well!

Yes, I got the D40 with the ED II and now upgraded to the VR.

I'm not making any promises, but I'll try to post some next weekend...

Hey darrin,

nice shots! Good clean one of the pigeons..and as always, the D40-colors :-)

I have the non-VR version of the same lens and I'm very happy with it, as far as image-quality and price goes. Would've preferred yours though..lol.

For my 55-200mm VR I'm grateful for the stabilization - really makes a difference out at that range.

Glad to see another two D40/x users out there btw!

Cheers :-)

I agree - the ED II is very good for the money. The VR is a little better, but it also costs more...

Hi Darrin,

Image guidelines have been relaxed (Posting image guidelines (and forum width)) so I've replaced the links with [img]..[/img] tags so members can see them directly. Hope that meets with your approval. 8)

Fantastic little lens.

Much much better than I expected from a kit lens too.

Can get in nice and close to things with it too :D
