Hi folks, and welcome to August's assignment. The theme for this month is "Movement".

1. You can only submit one picture, and it should be no longer than 1024 pixels on it's longest side.
2. The picture must be taken anytime in the last six months.
3. Exercise good judgement about what is appropriate on our forum (see our Forum Rules for more information).
4. Please include a sentence or two describing your picture or the process of taking it, and share some technical info such as the camera, lens, settings and processing.
5. If you have any questions, comments or pictures older than six months, please post them in the August Comments and Questions thread.
6. Submissions will close at midnight GMT on August 31st 2013, after which you can vote for your favorite entry. Good luck!

Here's a little fun self portrait I did. I taped some LED's to my wheels to give some cool abs(sin(x)) patterns. . The red light is my typical "don't run me over" light. Can you spot the RF trigger in my hand?

Still have two trips to Amsterdam coming up this month, but I quite liked this image from the vacation I returned home from this week. Very relaxing to cycle through the woods for three days. Snapped this over my shoulder while cycling, so I had no idea how it would turn out.

Been a bit quiet from me recently.

One of the multiple shots I took this summer, I was shooting both on single-shot mode and manual focusing, I just didn't trust my camera, so I have a lot of nicely composed images but that are out of focus or vice versa. It was pretty much hit-and-miss.

ABSTRACT.

I thought rather than trying to photograph something actually moving I'd try and capture the sensation of movement. This shot was one of many taken by moving the camera across various subjects while releasing the shutter on a slow speed. This is the best of the bunch taken of sunlight coming through gaps in wooden decking and makes me think of sheets of paper sliding and falling



Pentax K20D. ISO100. Neutral density filter, 1/4sec @ f.11 18-55mm lens.
PP: Crop, rotate, adjust brightness, increase contrast

Taken at twilight on top of the cliffs at Southerndown in South Wales, UK.



Settings: 14mm, f20, 5secs, ISO 160 using Lumix GX1 camera and 14-42mm kit lens.

Went to Chanonry Point on the Moray Firth (Scotland) to photograph dolphins leaping... but they didn't show up.
This guy walking his dogs did though. Pity they were not facing the camera.
