Quite an interesting topic, I cannot wait to see some of the responses. Luckily this category fits nicely with an image I took on the same shoot as my entry last month:

The canopy above provided an interesting amount of light through and black and white worked well with that.

Tibetan cherry tree. The bark was the reason I bought this tree. Today's light showed it off well.

MEADOW WITH BUTTERCUPS

Postby mikeroch » Mon Jul 15, 2013 7:37 am

Taken yesterday in Northumberland near the England / Scotland border, it is unusual in these modern chemical-spraying times in the UK to see much in the way of wild flowers in hay meadows, this caught my eye. I blush to admit that I took it through the car window .... how idle!

Survivor!

Postby daisy » Wed Jul 17, 2013 11:11 am

SURVIVOR. In the far north of Scotland many trees get grazed off by deer when they are just little saplings so few reach maturity ... unfenced land can be left pretty bare. This one near Inchnadamph in Sutherland suvived. The mountain behind is Quinag.

I wasn't very creative this month to be honest, but here's my attempt at this theme:

Image
Up by pierovera, on Flickr

The shot is of a plum tree that was, just a few days ago, bombarded by a crazy hailstorm. We usually don't get things like that here in Mexico City, it tore down most of the tree's leaves, this is basically what survived.

Camera Model: Canon EOS 600D
Lens and focal length: Canon EF-S 18-55mm @50mm
Aperture: f/20
Shutter Speed: 1/100
Sensitivity: ISO 200
Post processing: A bit of contrast boost on the blues and WB correction.
Gear: Canon SX20 IS, Canon Rebel T3i, Canon EF-S 18-55mm, Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Wishlist: Canon EF 100-400mm f/4-5.6L
