Update: I had added a prize to this competition, but we did not get the 20 entries
I was hoping for. Thus, the prize will be available for April's competition, with the
same conditions. Grab your camera, go out (or stay in, depending on your idea),
and shoot your submission for April
For this month only, I will personally send out a cool prize to the winner of
the assignment. What is it? It's a copy of Joe McNally's "The moment it clicks",
a great book about photography describing the stories behind some of Joe's
images. Goes for over $30 on Amazon, but you can get it for free. I will even
pay for the shipping myself, which is why I will only do this once, shipping
charges can get crazy here in Holland.
There is, however, one condition: there have to be at least 20 entries.
If there aren't, I might consider moving the prize to next month, or not offer
it anymore and keep the book for myself, not sure yet.
So, if you want a chance to win a free photography book, submit an entry to
this month's assignment themed "Growing up". You have until the end of the
month as always. Good luck!

Hi everyone! Welcome to March's Photo Competition!
The theme for this month is "Growing up", as suggested by me, because I won the January 2012
competition. Be sure to read the whole post for the rules.
In my own words:
- "On March 7th, I will be celebrating my 22nd birthday. Being in my final years of university, I recognize how much has changed (and is going to change) over the past few years. You learn and do new things, give up others. The gradual transition from child to adolescent to grown-up is something worth documenting. How have you, or do you, experience(d) this process?
There are so many possibilities within this theme. You can shoot a birthday cake, photograph a kid in clothes that are too small, or in some way or another show how old parts of one's life might make way for new ones. I'm interested in seeing how you experience the process of growing up, what associations you have with it. I will have my entry up early so you can see my take on growing up.
As I said, March 7th is my birthday. It would be awesome if you could post your entry then (or a week later), so we can get several pages of submissions this month!"
The rules!
1: You can only submit one image and it MUST be taken during March 2013. Photos taken earlier will be disqualified!
2: All images submitted must be no more than 1024 pixels on their longest side, although you can include a link to a
full resolution version if you like. Flickr users must link back to the original version to comply with its latest rules.
As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum. Keep it clean and family-friendly or it'll
be removed. See the Forum Rules for guides.
Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any
particular challenges in doing so like, for example, any special exposure or lighting setup.
We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also
include the following:
Camera Model:
Lens and focal length:
Aperture:
Shutter Speed:
Sensitivity:
Post processing:
Submissions will close at midnight GMT on March 31st 2013. The final poll will follow.
Please remember this thread is for submissions only. If you'd like to comment on any of the submissions or ask any
questions, please do so in the March 2013 Comments and Questions thread!
Thanks and good luck!
