January 2013 Submissions

Hi everyone! Welcome to January's Assignment!

The theme for this month is "The morning after", as suggested by robbon44 who won the November 2012
competition. Be sure to read the whole post for the rules.

In Rob's own words:

"I was thinking about the theme and came up with something still along the lines of being seasonal.

This month I would like to see shots themed around "the morning after.."

Open to interpretation. No restriction on processing so let the creative juices flow...

Cheers and happy new year!"

The rules!

1: You can only submit one image and it MUST be taken during January 2013. Photos taken earlier will be disqualified!

2: All images submitted must be no more than 1024 pixels on their longest side, although you can include a link to a
full resolution version if you like. Flickr users must link back to the original version to comply with its latest rules.

As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum. Keep it clean and family-friendly or it'll
be removed. See the Forum Rules for guides.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any
particular challenges in doing so like, for example, any special exposure or lighting setup.

We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also
include the following:

wow the ideas going through my head i though and though and though so i did this up i was sick and i had a fever and put fight club on the dvd player and feel asleep and the movie looped and looped i would wake up to a diferent sceen every time
this was a one shot hdr i added the blood and brusie and over sharpened the hands
and blurred out my face a bit but that it is all so this is my morning after

So many good winter entries, I thought of a surfing shot as this is what happens after the festive season and most take their 4 weeks annual holiday having a month long party especially with Australia Day being in January. Although washed out with the weather this year, it did not stop the partying. Now the sun shines again.

Waited for almost the whole of January to post this photo from Jan 1st. New Year's Day always involves a visit to the grandparents, and this time I brought my Leica to take some snaps of them. The picture below shows my grandmother, who suffers from dementia. I processed a black and white version too, which I prefer for most of my work, but the color was too important in this picture.
