The theme for this month is "December Greeting Card", as suggested by Phoenix Jackson who won the October 2012
competition. Be sure to read the whole post for the rules.
In Jackson's own words:
- "December is the month where people around the world celebrate. It is also a commercial opportunity where artists, such as photographers, excel.
"December Greeting Card" is the theme I choose for the month's assignment. It should be related to anything celebrated during the month of December. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, or could be someone's birthday. Anything that happens in December, where you could send someone a greeting card.
There are two things I wish to impose:
1. No composites. Clean-up with clone tool, use multiple layers, just don't superimpose a part of a picture to another.
2. No words superimposed. Words could be captured within the frame if it's actually there. Just don't put greetings, captions, or messages, over your photograph. Whatever you wish to express should be shown by the photograph alone.
Everything else is open. Bring on the HDRs, Topazes, GIMPs, and what not. Whatever it takes to create your image. After all, it's about expressing yourself and ideas."
The rules!
1: You can only submit one image and it MUST be taken during December 2012. Photos taken earlier will be disqualified!
2: All images submitted must be no more than 1024 pixels on their longest side, although you can include a link to a
full resolution version if you like. Flickr users must link back to the original version to comply with its latest rules.
As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum. Keep it clean and family-friendly or it'll
be removed. See the Forum Rules for guides.
Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any
particular challenges in doing so like, for example, any special exposure or lighting setup.
We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also
include the following:
Camera Model:
Lens and focal length:
Aperture:
Shutter Speed:
Sensitivity:
Post processing:
Submissions will close at midnight GMT on 31st December 2012. The final poll will follow.
Please remember this thread is for submissions only. If you'd like to comment on any of the submissions or ask any
questions, please do so in the December 2012 Comments and Questions thread!
Thanks and good luck!
