So guys, long time no see.... years have passed I think. Well youre reading this because you want to know what' s up (or you dont want to of course
Years ago I have been working very hard and very much (student!) for saving and buying my ultimate kit: 50D + grip + Tamron 17-50 + Canon 70-200 f/4L.
All 7 batteries of my 50D are only lasting a few shots, which doesnt seem a problem of the batteries themselves... though I did order a new battery for the sake of trying, but I am afraid my 50D has a huge problem of detecting that all my batteries are empty even though they are not. For a long time this happens and stops me from making any photos with the 50D. Fortunately I can take a few shots with 2 batteries in the grip.
My Tamron 17-50 has some AF issues since years, it auto focusses very slowly (3s from back to forth and back again). In youtube movies I see it should last around 1s. Well doesnt matter me the most because I like MF too. Also I had some strange spots on my photos which seemed to have been caused by a strange spot on my front element. I had to open the lens and make it clean again. Looked like an oil spot or something in the glass, very strange looking. I got it removed though. Now since few weeks, the lens focuses at infinity at 17mm, but only having at around 1m/3ft in focus. Everything beyond is very blurry. So it' s front focusing enormously at wide angle! At 50mm though it has no problems. Unfortunately MF doesnt correct for this front focus and the AF adjust in the 50D can of course correct for the front focus at 17mm, but over corrects at 50mm then!!!! It' s really useless now because the farthest I can get sharp at 17mm is 3ft in front of me.
No warranty of course. If I only had a job, but as a student I really cant just get another camera (hope the new battery will show that the 50D is OK) and/ or another lens.
Damn. Hoped to use this kit for the coming 20-30 years and not having to upgrade in the meantime because the quality is that good. Fortunately I still have my good old 350D with the newer kit lens of the 1100D which is quite sharp.
