Marketing your website

I'm not necessarily interested in making any money from photography, but I would like to market my website.

As I've been off work with a bad cold the last couple of days I decided to play around with my website and develop it a bit - I'm replacing the style of the galleries, but I've also added Twitter, Facebook 'like' and Google Plus 'plus one' buttons to the about page. These three social networking sites together seem to be the one of the best ways to get the word out.

Google Plus in particular I'm hoping to reserve solely for photography - but I have very few contacts at the moment. Does anyone have any tips about how to spread the word / make new contacts in the photographic community?
