iPhone upgrades always look very tempting because of the improvements in the camera. Smartphones have been my only cameras for years now. However, I'm now thinking of skipping a generation or two, and to buy a really good compact camera that I can use for the next five years or more.
To avoid that this thing ends up on a drawer, it needs to be really good, relatively small, and easy to use. I don't care much about long zooms.
When I look at the options, I am surprised that the great compacts (Sony rx100 series, powershot g7x) do not have gps, except maybe through a separate smartphone app. I don't want to go back to non-geotagged pictures.
Should I wait for future revisions of these cameras? Admit to myself that I'm not really going to carry a camera in addition to a phone?
