I agree, go down the class 10 UHS1 route as they are cheap enough now.
But yes you are only going to see improvements if the device can actually use it.
UHS2 is now out though, so maybe its worth waiting for those prices to drop a bit more for the increased data transfer limits.

Btw the class 10 and UHS is basiclly just a standard to say at minimum the data should transfer at XXX amount.
