Honest comment as always 4xxxx and I thank you for that. It highlights my only problem with the RX100 - no viewfinder. The pic isn't perfect, for sure, but not bad on my screen and I loved the bright colours I saw at the time. The problem was probably more camera shake than anything though. With my eyes I have to hold the camera out in order to see anything at all on the screen. Here, the sun made it virtually impossible for me to see anything apart from a hazy outline of the horizon, trees included. I set the camera to centre focus and actually focused on poppies close to hand then recomposed. The aperture was set to the RX100 minimum of f11. What I probably should have done was to wind the ISO out. Another lesson!
As it is, I was across that way the next day too and, knowing that, I took the D600. It wasn't such a bright day but I was/am more comfortable with the viewfinder. Here is one of the resulting pics. I prefer this one myself but would be happy for C&C again. D600 and 24-85mm.
