Pentax K-5 User Review

Postby rei_vilo » Tue Nov 22, 2011 3:05 pm

Photography is back on my website!

The Pentax K-7 was a great camera but had some flaws. I' was looking for faster AF, better sensibility and reduced noise. All reviews I've read were positive on those points.

Combining the Pentax 100 € cash-back program, a 10% discount from the reseller and a fair price for my former K-7, I decided to update my dSLR for a Pentax K-5.

As usual, I'll share my :arrow: discoveries on an on-the-go basis. Stay tuned :!:

I went the same way. Picked up a second hand K-7 but wanted the new sensor.
Extremly happy with the K-5.
Only problem is, the lens buying addiction has quickened :)
DA 21 joined the stable and DA 70 in the wings...
I stuck a Canon Ees focussing screen in it . Makes using the K50/1.2 a piece of cake now

The first impression when switching from a K-7 to a K-5 is the lack of surprise. I felt as I hadn't changed my camera: I was at home!

Nice point, all the gear I used with the K-7 is ready for the K-5, lenses, accessories and flash.

The ergonomics of the K-7 were excellent, but Pentax pushed them even further, refining some details on the K-5.

After the first hands-on, please find the first pictures, continuous shooting sequence as well as Pros and Cons and Wrap-Up for the Pentax K-5.

Here's a summary of the tests I've conducted:

How does the Pentax K-5 perform in difficult conditions, as low light or mist?

/// off topic ///

Tommy, I would just like to draw your attention to my post here and the message from Gordon above it. WDC makes some interesting videos, but I am starting to worry you are posting them for other reasons than them being interesting, especially when you reply to old threads like this (the last post was made at the end of March 2012).

@rei, the image links are all broken? Have you moved the files elsewhere?

@Bjorn,

Yes, I closed my Google site because of the growing Google empire. Sorry for the inconvenience of the lost links.

I opened a new website with a selection of the most read articles at :arrow: http://reivilophotography.weebly.com

Actually, I've still use the same K5 with DA* lenses and I really enjoy it. Image quality is just amazing.

So instead of writing articles, I take pictures!

No problem Rei. You've build yourself a good site there, very easy to navigate!
