I had a chance to try out the surface at the mall a few days ago, and it's a very slick device. I'd easily choose it over the iPad any day. It's built extremely well, and the touch cover is surprisingly easy to use (however I personally prefer the type cover). Windows 8 RT seems to work fine, but the inability to run legacy desktop apps is a bummer, so I may wait it out for the pro version.

For the RT version, I have to wonder if there's enough of an app ecology yet? That might be the killer like it is to RIM.
