MacBook Pro, matte or glossy?

Postby Victor Hoffmann » Wed Mar 10, 2010 6:43 pm

Hi guys!

What should i get, the matte version or the glossy display?
I've tried my friends MacBook Pro (all day long) with the glossy display and i don't find any cons at all. Well maybe just a tiny bit of glare, but nothing that bothers me.

What about the color and sharpness? Of cause i'm going to be editing my photos on it so those two things are very important.

Thanks!

You've answered your own question. Glossy looks a bit sharper but it's down to your own preference hence I haven't voted for matte or glossy. Not what I would chose is important.

If you don't have a problem with glossy go for it. End of story and so simple.

Cheers

I was just wondering if the glossy is sharper and if the matte screen have more correct colors (I need it for editing my photos, so correct color is important  )

I think the overall contrast boost of the glossy screens give the impression that it is sharper, I don't believe that it actually is.

Buy matte and trade me for my awful glossy!

If you want a true representation of what your photo's actually look like you'll definitely want to go matte. Apple didn't release the matte option for a few weeks after I bought my mbp.

I used to have a vaio laptop with a glossy screen. It gave me headaches (eyestrain) from the little glares always present on the screen.

Glossy screens reflect way more and are harder to use in bright conditions, due to the glare.

I'd get one of the new 1680x1050 anti-glare screens http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-compare.html

I chose the highest mbp. If I could do it again I would get the cheapest 15" with hi def matte screen option.

With the new release, even the cheapest 15" has the two graphics cards and the new i5 processor that is so fast.

Matte.

Less reflections=better. Much much better.

This might be an interesting read for those trying to decide between a glossy or matte screen http://www.anandtech.com/show/3669/appl ... valuated/5
