Wide gamut richness

Postby Bob Andersson » Thu Apr 05, 2012 10:01 am

Hi folks,

Just a quick post to share my experience of a wide gamut monitor. Having just upgraded from a cheap and cheerful monitor to a wide gamut (98% AdobeRGB) monitor all I can say is if your budget stretches to wide gamut monitors then check them out. I'm getting a much richer visual experience even if I did get significantly poorer in the process.

There, I said it would be quick!

Hi popo,

Not yet. The PA301W is supposed to be pretty good as shipped but an X-rite is definitely on my shopping list now that I've got a monitor that deserves it. I'm seeing my Hα colouring in a totally different light now. Much richer and extremely close to the result from a professional print shop. 8)

Oh, what took me so long? Well, the old LCD monitor's "screen burn" wasn't so bad that I could justify replacing it. My 25% Scottish ancestry coming to the fore.
