Hi photo_fofo!
Monitorcalibrating is done by the Spyder3 Pro in my case and I´m satisfied with it. Of course, I don´t know the prices in Scotland for this spyder but I´ve payed ca. € 100 which should be in your range. The differences between those calibrationdevices (brands) are small, merely software. I don´t think they are really important.
The difference between a calibrated and a non-calibrated monitor can be huge by the way.
The only difference by those which costs more (ca. € 400) is the possibility to calibrate the printer as well. But if you don´t print your photo´s yourself or send them to a photolab you don´t need it anyway.
Hope this helps!
Kind regards,
