Snapper Rocks Surf

Postby 4xxxx » Tue Jan 21, 2014 3:30 am

A cyclone 1500 km of the coast produced a surf around 2-1/2 m and Snapper Rocks was packed. Unfortunately I got soaked along with my camera and my lens pen was dry so there was a film I could not remove from the lens, so not my best shots.

My 200 mm lens looked like a PnS compared to this 600 mm +1.4 TC

nice set 4xxxx, well captured.

Great action shots. I wish our weather was warm enough to go in the sea with no wetsuit on. That's one hell of a lens in your last shot. I wouldn't fancy lugging that around, though I bet some of the results are enviable. ;)

Thanks Savlet, although you can find surfers any day, I don’t go surf shooting unless it’s 1 metre plus and yes our weather is great with the water around 24 - 26c, a bit scary as it only needs 26.5 for a cyclone to develop. The average summer water temp used to be 22 - 24c and guess this is an example of climate change.

Thanks Greg, this weekend is the start of the Quick Silver and Roxy Pro at Snapper, looking at the surf forecast it will only be around 1/2 m to under 1 metre. Not sure if I will go as yet, I’ll check the surf cams before I do.

Northerners may think I’m mad but we would like some rain. :(

You're very welcome to some of ours - we've had 4 months and rain just about every day - wettest for 250 years :( :(
