Cape Hatteras Fun

Postby Savlet » Sat Jun 15, 2013 8:32 pm

We returned from our holiday a couple of weeks ago and we're still suffering with the occasional post holiday blues. We were in Cape Hatteras for two weeks of kitesurfing, had a fantastic time, and I came back with some great memories in pictures, over 2000 of them!!!

Here's just a small sample of some of the kiting action:

Young Cameron making us all wish we'd started this sport at his age! We had the pleasure of spending some time kiting with his father, Dimitri Maramenides of Epic Kiteboarding, a true acrobat with a kite.

These were all taken with my Lumix GX1 with the 100-300mm lens

Thank you. :) I surprised myself with some of the results I got on holiday. Really got the photographic bug...

Good pics, as said previously, nice and sharp. Well captured. Looks nicer there than the Bristol Channel, where I tried taking similar pictures.

Many thanks, Arthur. You're right about the location, though I've since managed to get a few decent kiting photos in South Wales too, but nicer weather definitely helps. ;)

Great shots! I like them all, overall they're great. The first one looks a bit overexposed, at least the background does. Was the kite casting some shadow? I say this because he does look properly exposed.

I love the colors in the board from the last one :)

Thank you for your comments - much appreciated.

That first image does look a little odd doesn't it? The glare coming off the water was really bright but as my husband's kitesurf board is bright white it acted as a reflector and shined some of the bright lighting back at him - couldn't have planned it that way if we'd tried
